North Quarter Tavern and Bar Room on Orange Avenue in downtown Orlando is giving way to two new establishments as developer Craig Ustler brings in new operating partners.
One will be a neighborhood-focused pub, and the other will be a modernized cocktail lounge, according to a news release from Ustler this week.
Church Street Entertainment, known for Chillers, Ember, Latitudes and other establishments, is the new operating partner. The company is “looking forward to being part of the North Quarter District,” the release said.
Ustler is exiting operations of his last two restaurant or bar spaces via the deal, with Citrus Restaurant becoming Reyes Mezcaleria near North Quarter Tavern previously and Soco replacing Hue in the Thornton Park area.
CSE brings creative design ability, operations expertise and marketing experience to the table, according to the release. CSE also operates Crafted, Irish Shannon’s and 180 Skytop Lounge.
Ustler intends to focus on Creative Village, located west of downtown, and Florida Hospital Health Village, located north of downtown, as a result of moving away from owning and operating restaurants, according to the release.
The design for University of Central Florida’s proposed downtown campus won approval earlier this year. Ustler serves as master developer for Creative Village. Academic buildings, part of a four-story complex, are slated to open in 2019.

After a few successful years in operation, North Quarter Tavern and its adjacent Bar Room will close to make way for a “neighborhood-focused local pub” and a “classic cocktail lounge.”
Owner Craig Ustler announced the pair of closings in a statement this week, which also detailed a new operating partnership with Church Street Entertainment. CSE already owns downtown watering holes like Ember, Latitudes, Cahoots, Chillers, Irish Shannon’s, 180 Skytop Lounge and Crafted.
Both bars will close Dec. 31 (they’ll be open for brunch that day). At the moment there’s currently no word on what the names or concepts will be.
Ustler says he wants to focus more on the upcoming Creative Village and Florida Hospital Health Village, and less on his restaurants and bars.

Local developer and Creative Village champion Craig Ustler has announced a new partnership with Church Street Entertainment to take the helm of his North Quarter Tavern and Bar Room properties.
Church Street Entertainment is the company behind Downtown favorites like Ember, Latitudes, Cahoots, Chillers, Irish Shannon’s, and 180 Skytop Lounge.
This latest move is part of a series of steps by Ustler to remove himself from the day-to-day operations of his restaurant start-ups to refocus his attentions to the ongoing Creative Village development in Parramore and Florida Hospital Health Village. Other examples of this move include transitioning Citrus Restaurant into Reyes Mezcaleria and Soco in the former HUE.
According to a press release issued from Ustler’s office earlier today, Church Street Entertainment will be changing the two North Quarter spaces into a “neighborhood-focused local pub” and a “modern interpretation of a classic cocktail lounge.”
The last day for Orlandoans to enjoy NQT as is will be December 31.
